Our Why

Ziggy is actually a big reason for our life’s work shifting into functional medicine and alternative ways of healing.

When Ziggy was a puppy, he was diagnosed with a rare condition called Masticatory Muscle Myositis. MMM is an autoimmune condition that affects the jaw muscles, ability to chew, and eventually inhibits the dog from opening their mouth at all.

Traditionally, these dogs are put on steroids for life.

Ziggy spent the first year on steroids and the side effects were hard on him. So we decided to look into alternative options. We found an incredible homeopathic veterinarian who used classical homeopathy to treat Ziggy’s condition. She gave us hope, support, and within a year, Ziggy was off of steroids and back to normal.

It’s been 7 years since his last steroid and Ziggy remains healthy with no medications and no relapse of the condition.

Although I was always interested in natural ways of healing, this experience really provided a new perspective on things, an appreciation for the wisdom of non-western therapies, the ability to use my training in a more open- minded way. I learned that when you experience something like this in your life, it really forces you to be brave and see things differently.
