Ziggy is actually the reason Dr. Manson began her path to FUNCTIONAL medicine.

When Ziggy was a puppy, he was diagnosed with a rare condition called Masticatory Muscle Myositis. MMM is an autoimmune condition that eventually inhibits the dog from opening their mouth at all. Left untreated, the dog’s jaw muscle atrophies and the animal is left unable to eat and drink.

Traditionally, these dogs are put on steroids for LIFE.

Ziggy spent the first year on and off steroids, completely miserable. Seemingly every week, he was back at the vet with a new side effect. This all changed when the family was introduced to a wonderful HOMEOPATHIC veterinarian, Dr. Rachel Jones. Within a year, Ziggy was off of steroids and back to normal!

It’s been 5 years since his last steroid and Ziggy remains healthy with no medications.

This experience provided Dr. Manson a new perspective on things, an appreciation for the wisdom of non-western therapies, the ability to use her training in a more open minded way.
